Do I need an appointment?
Yes, we recommend making an appointment so we can provide the best care for your pet without long wait times. However, we do our best to accommodate same-day appointments when available. Emergencies during business hours are always prioritized.
What vaccinations does my pet need?
Vaccination needs vary by species, age, and lifestyle. Core vaccines include:
– Dogs: Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella
– Cats: Rabies, FVRCP, FeLV
We’ll create a custom vaccine schedule during your pet’s wellness exam.
How often does my pet need a rabies vaccine?
Rabies vaccination is required by law and protects both your pet and the public. Here’s what to expect:
– First rabies vaccine: Around 12 weeks of age
– Booster: Given 1 year later
– After that: Every 3 years (depending on the vaccine type and local regulations)
We keep track of all vaccinations and will remind you when it’s time for a booster.
When should I spay or neuter my pet?
We generally recommend:
– Cats: Spay or neuter around 5–6 months of age
– Dogs: Spay or neuter between 6–12 months, depending on breed and size
– Small breeds: around 5 months
– Large breeds: 12–18 months may be advised for joint health
We’ll help determine the best timing based on your pet’s individual needs.
Do you recommend flea, tick, and heartworm prevention?
Yes! We strongly recommend year-round heartworm prevention and flea and tick control for both dogs and cats.
Even indoor pets are at risk. We’ll recommend safe, effective options tailored to your pet.
Should my pet eat before surgery?
